World Cancer Day
In 2008 I was diagnosed with cancer. I had the hardest of treatments and still do but I am healthy now. At least i think I am but you never know what’s under the skin. That fear never, ever leaves you.
My birthday’s the 4th of February. So tomorrow I’ll be 33. The 4th of February is also World Cancer day, I learned recently. A morbid coincidence? No, a sign. A sign that I was given a second chance and that I should take that chance. As you might have read, I am living my dream. It’s never too late to do so. Throw away your fears and start running towards that sunrise and those chances that you will be given once you open your eyes to them.
Tomorrow’s World Cancer Day. A day to remember those gone, the ones that are suffering now but also a day for the survivors to realize that they are strong people. And whether your name is Lance Armstrong or José Been, gratitude always makes you humble.
Live now, Livestrong, Dream, Dare and Just do it!
This blog is dedicated to Jacqueline, a mother, a friend, a great woman who learned this week 2012 will be her last year.

José — I given thanks every day (or try to remember to) for having the courage to make a big change in my life and follow my passion. There are good days, and not so good days, but I don’t regret the choice. Thank you for the reminder to make today count. Happy birthday!
